Large or small, cottage associations are an important part of cottage living in the Haliburton Highlands. Local lake associations give a collective voice to cottagers and residents in their area. These organizations can be leaders in protecting the environment, and can exert influence on local planning and politics. Some cottage associations also host social gatherings, fishing derbies, regattas – great opportunities to get to know your neighbours.
